Third Street Before the Promenade
Third Street in 1940 allowed for cars and angled parking; the pedestrian promenade was not established until 1965. On the left is J.C. Penney, and on the right the Fox Criterion Theatre advertises a movie starring Joan Blondell and Dick Powell (likely I Want a Divorce, released September 1940).
