Perfecto and Tranquelina Marquez at the Family Cemetery
The Mexican government granted the land around what is now Santa Monica Canyon to the Marquez family in 1839. The family cemetery, pictured here with Tranquelina and her husband Perfecto Marquez, still exists on San Lorenzo Street.
