Ocean Park historically welcomed a wide array of beach-goers. Arcades, taverns, bathhouses, and dance halls offered affordable entertainment, and many catered to gay clientele. In the late 1950s, Santa Monica officials razed numerous local businesses, affecting LGBTQ and working-class communities.
